Transportation

    Jimei District is very accessible, boasting a welldeveloped transportation network. It is linked to the island of Xiamen by Xiamen Bridge. The Jimei School Village, where the District Government Office is located, is only 3 kilometres from the Xiamen Intern-ational Air-port, 10 kilometres from Dondu Harbour, 15 kilo-metres from Haicang Harbour and 13 kilometres from the Heping Passenger Terminal. The Xiamen International Airport is the second largest air terminal after Shanghai in southeast China. So far there are 121 airlines in operation, connecting Xiamen to such place as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Tokyo, Bang-kok, seoul, Hong Kong and Macao. Xiamen Port has direct links to 84 domestic and international ports all over the world, with 272 freighters in operation every Month.

Communications

    Jimei District boasts a well-developed communication network. Communication services available include telephone, telegram, digital transmission, facsimile and express mail service.

Water supply

    Jimei District has an abundant water supply, the result of rich water resources and a good water supply network capable of providing over 230,000 tons of water a day.

Electricity

    Jimei has an abundant power supply from two 220KV transformer substations and four 110KV alternating current transformer substations.

Gas

    The Linde Gas(Xiamen) Co. Ltd., set up with German investment in the industrial zone in north Jimei, is capable of producing various industrial gases to meet the demands from industrial enterprises. The Liquefied Gas Station, situated in the northern commercial area, is capable of supplying 25000 cubic metres of liquefied gas a day.

Sewage treatment

    The two sewage treatment plants in Jimei District with planned daily handling capacity of 210,000 tons, currently supplies 75,000 tons of water per day..

    The District Government officials are committed to offering first-level services for investors. The District Government has set up the following special organs to provide effective service for investors:

Government Administration Service Hall
   
This is the place where officials from different administration depa-rtm ents get together to offer streamlined services concerning investment project approval and other enquiries. They work under the commitment that all necessary information be provided for an investor upon his first enquiry; that an investor be able to complete all the necessary formalities at one time at the same counter when submitting the project for approval; that every project be assigned an official to take charge, to follow up, and to finalize; and that a deadline be set to the Administration process.

Fee Collecting Centre
    Where all fees and charges that an enterprises legally obliged to pay are examined and collected, all at the same counter, thus simplifying the formalities for the investor.

Investment Service Centre
    Which provides policy information for investment enquiries and offers assistance to investors in project inspection, evaluation and application.
