West Jimei Industrial Development Zone

The 8-square-kilometre West Jimei Industrial Development Zone is located to the north of National Highway 324 and between the Yongquan and Feipeng Industrial Parks. A number of enterprises including Yongquan Group and Feipeng Corporation have set up their business here. The zone is within easy accesses to the National Highways 324 and 319, Fuzhou-Xiamen-Zhangzhou Expressway and Yingtan-Xiamen Railway. It is 15 kilometres distant from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, 17 kilometres away from Dongdu dock and Haicang Harbour respectively. The county-level Highway 403 still under construction runs through the zone. In its southwest lies the 220 KV Lilin Transformer Substation and the Tianma Tap Water Factory nearby supplies water for both domestic and industrial use. 4 square kilometres of the area have been given over to the development of electronics and information industries (including the manufacturing of optical and electrical products) and their ancillary industries; on 2 other square kilometres, companies manufacturing electrical appliances, various instruments and metres, environmental protection equipment and chemical and engineering machinery are to be set up. Furthermore, an R&D and training centre and a product exhibition division for the electro-mechanical industry will also be developed on this plot of land. The remaining 2 square kilometres are stet aside only form landscaping, evidence that the development of this industrial zone has taken the ecological preservation into full consideration.
